What we do:

a) Commercial Litigation

We represent clients in litigated claims, acting for plaintiffs and defendants on a wide range of commercial matters involving breach of contract, negligence and breaches of the Australian Consumer Law.

b) Dispute Resolution

We work through our client’s desired outcomes and priorities and develop tailored resolution strategies to implement. We assist in settlement negotiations with the other side or opposing solicitor and represent clients at alternate dispute resolution processes such as mediation.

c) Employment Law

We draft employment contracts and advise employers on employment law processes such as disciplinary processes, stand downs, redundancies and employee entitlements, to best protect the employer’s position against employment claims.

We also represent employers in claims issued against them such as:

  • Unfair dismissal claims;
  • General protections claims;
  • Discrimination claims or complaints;
  • Anti-bullying matters;
  • Breach of contract claims; and
  • Unpaid wages claims.

d) Education Law

We represent university students in issues or claims that take place in the education setting, such as bullying complaints, discrimination claims and complaints and negotiating reasonable adjustments, and in reviews, appeals, claims and complaints against universities involving matters such as:

  • Adverse academic decisions affecting course progression;
  • Suspensions;
  • Exclusions;
  • Procedural unfairness; and
  • Contract and consumer matters.

e) Insurance & Liabilities

Insurance

We assist with interpreting and advising on coverage under insurance policies. We also assist clients with drafting submissions and obtaining evidence to support a request for the review of an insurer’s decision, including where an insurer has issued a full or partial declinature of indemnity for a claim under an insurance policy.

Liabilities

We assist in the defence of public liability and professional indemnity claims against individuals and businesses. There are occasions where individuals and businesses are uninsured for these claims and require representation to defend or minimise and resolve a claim against them. We assist throughout the duration of pre litigated and litigated claims, including considering the claim and drafting responses or a defence and other required documents, considering and obtaining evidence, and providing advice on liability, quantum and resolution strategies. We represent clients at alternative resolution processes such as mediations, and at court hearings, briefing counsel where required.
